PenCom DG Highly Committed to our Welfare – Retirees



The Director General of the National Pension Commission Aisha Dahir Umah has reiterated determination to driving greater Financial Inclusion in Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy by boosting Informal Sector participation in the Contributory Pension Commission CPS.


Retirees and Pensioners in Nigeria have commended the National Pension Commission Director General Aisha Dahir Umah for the laudable innovations and reforms she had brought in the pension industry.

In a thank you visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Retirees and Pensioners under the aegis of Concerned Retirees and Pensioners in Nigeria, led by her coordinator Alhaji Auwal Garba thanked the Commission for the various reforms that have made the pension system and payment very seamless, including the newly launched Pension Enhancement for Retirees on Programmed withdrawal under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The Group expressed hope that the Enhancement initiative will greatly improve the scheme as well as enhance retirees’ wellbeing.

Responding on behalf of the Director General of the Commission, the Commissioner for Administration, Mr. Farouk Aminu, appreciated the visit and extended the greetings of the Director General to the group.

He took the occasion to educate the group on the benefits inherent in the new Contributory Pension Scheme.

According to him, pension should be periodically reviewed under the 1999 constitution, hence PenCom is working assiduously to meet all such constitutional requirements in the interest of retiree’s wellbeing, which accounts for why series of innovations are being carried out by the Commission including the newly launched third edition of the Pension Enhancement for retirees on Programmed withdrawal under the contributory pension scheme.

He said the Commission welcomes fresh ideas from the general public in her bid to improve service delivery. He further pledged the Commission’s commitment to work closely with well-meaning groups for the benefit of Nigerian retirees and pensioners.

The Group presented an appreciation card and wished the Commission the very best of year 2023
