Come out of your illusion of taking over Osun in 2026, IMAV tells APC

The Imole Accord Vanguard (IMAV) has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) for entertaining the doomed-to-fail hope of taking over Osun state in 2026, declaring that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the choice of Osun people and will be re-elected next year.

In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Hon. Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, IMAV said the Osun APC betrayed its morbid fear of the possibility of Governor Adeleke’s re-election on the platform of the ACCORD with its lame reaction, noting that the APC has no pathway to winning any credible poll owing to its sordid and colossal record in governance in the past.

Hon. Bamiji maintained that the 2026 election in Osun will be about the delivery of good governance, which the APC failed grossly on in the past when the people trusted it with their mandate, stressing that Governor Adeleke’s unprecedented achievements across sectors earned him the overwhelming support of the people as against the shenanigans of the APC.

“What the Osun APC has done with its jaundiced notion on the defection of Governor Ademola Adeleke to ACCORD is to confirm what any objective mind is already aware of– Governor Adeleke is their worst nightmare and having him on the ballot bursted their undemocratic efforts of gaining power without the people’s will.

“Instead of getting agitated about Governor Adeleke getting a veritable platform to secure re-election, the Osun APC should be focused on begging for the forgiveness of the people for the undeserved pains it inflicted on them in the years it administered the state. Governor Adeleke is the choice of the people not because of his look but the fact that his government fixed many of the past misdeeds orchestrated by the APC failings and is setting the state on the course of enviable progress”, Hon Bamiji noted.

IMAV expressed concerns that instead of the APC to accept the reality of its rejection by the people of Osun state, it is carelessly portraying a scenario that the will of the electorate will not be allowed to prevail through the abuse of the federal might, urging President Bola Tinubu and the INEC to remain firm in upholding democracy by ensuring that Osun people and not manipulations prevail in the poll.

“In a democracy, the people are the ultimate decider of who leads them. Unfortunately, the Osun APC doesn’t seem to share this philosophy and continues to push the impression that, irrespective of the will of the people, it will snatch power and run away with it in 2026.

“Our interest as a social-political group is to see our democracy flourish and from every indication, Governor Adeleke holds the key to the heart of Osun people and any free, fair and credible election will produce him as a winner with a very wide margin. This make us view the hope of the APC taking power in 2026 as nothing but a mere fantasy and further exposed their undemocratic credentials”, IMAV stated

IMAV restated its commitment to mobilising the Osun electorate to resist every attempt to thwart the will of the people and impose a wish different from their will in a democracy, saying that Governor Adeleke’s re-election will ensure that the progress made so far is not reversed but continued.
