Osun Transport Commissioner meets VIO officials, calls for blockage of leakages to improve IGR

Osun State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele has called for the blockage of revenue leakages as well as staff commitment to duty as ways to improve the State’s Internally Generated Revenue(IGR).

He identified wastages and leakages as the bane of robust IGR generation in the State over the years, stressing that the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke is determined to block all leakages to boost the State’s revenue.

The Commissioner made the observation on Wednesday while speaking during a meeting with Vehicle Inspection Officers, otherwise known as VIOs, across the State.

Oyedele further stressed that government can not function efficiently without enough revenue, charging VIO officials across the State to be committed to their jobs at all times.

According to him, “We have to do everything possible to boost our revenue. We are one of the high revenue generating Ministries, one of the reasons why Governor Ademola Adeleke created this Ministry is for us to be able to discharge our duties well. So much is expected of us and we must not fail.

“Our performance must be 100%, Mr Governor has given us a mandate to go out and work. We have to ensure our roads are safe and at the same time generate revenue to improve our economy as a State”, he stated.

Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser on Transportation, Hon. Yakubu Adejare encouraged the VIO officers to work as a team to ensure the overall success of the Ministry.

“We are a new Ministry and so much is expected of us. We must all work together in synergy to be able to deliver on our mandate,” he concluded.
