The General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Jide Falade has warned the residents of Osun to desist from any form of activity that may cause environmental hazard like fire outbreak and flooding in the State.
Falade stated this on Wednesday in a release personally signed by him and obtained by SAHEL STANDARD correspodent in Osogbo.
He noted that the warning became imperative in view of the constant rain that is being experienced for the past weeks and also the fast approaching dry season when fire disasters are common, with it’s attendant monumental loss and shortages.
“Here are some of the factors that may cause environmental hazards; dumping of refuse on water ways, building houses in areas that are prone to flooding, carelessness in handling electrical appliances at homes and offices, incessant bush burning by farmers and hunters, refusal to unplug unused electrical equipment, keeping of petrol at home , keeping of cylinders inside the vehicle, among others”, he noted.
Mr Falade also used the medium to admonish the residents that despite the efforts of Mr Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke in putting preventable measures against flooding in place, through regular drainage of all the water ways, yet the people must also play their own roles to complement Government’s efforts.
