The Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has described June 12 as a symbol of Nigerians strength and determination to building a better future for themselves and the nation.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of the heroes who fought for the freedom, rights and privileges that all Nigerians are enjoying today, urging everyone to take it as duty and responsibility to ensure the legacy is preserved.
The governor disclosed this in his Democracy Day message on Wednesday.
He emphasised on the importance of staying united, in spite of our religious, cultural and political differences, adding that we must continue to work together to harness the potential of the nation.
It reads; “I join you today to celebrate our 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s uninterrupted Democracy. On this day, we acknowledge the sacrifices of our heroes who fought for the freedom, rights and privileges we enjoy today. It is our duty and responsibility to ensure we preserve this legacy.
“As a people, it is our shared belief that only through a democratic process can we achieve unity, progress and in pursuit of a better society. June 12 is a symbol of our strength and determination to building a better future for ourselves and our nation.
“We must stay united, in spite of our religious, cultural and political differences and continue to work together to harness the potential of our nation. As one, we can build a Nigeria of our dream.”
