Nigerian VIPs gather as Adeleke Becomes Asiwaju of Ede

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman of Dangote Group and Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde will tomorrow storm Ede, Osun State as the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal will install Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Asiwaju of Ede.

Other dignitaries expected at the event are the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the richest African woman, Dr Folorunso Alakija, Governors of States,members of the National Assembly, among others.

Speaking on Sunday at the Palace of Timi, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Senator Lere Oyewumi said installation coincides with the 64th birthday of the Governor.

According to the conferment of the title on Senator Ademola Adeleke is at the instance of no any other person than His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa( I) in acknowledgement and recognition of Senator Adeleke’s contribution to the growth and development of Ede land in particular and Osun state at large.

“In the same vein, the highly revered and respected Timi also took into cognizance, the enormity of the entire Adeleke dynasty’s contribution to the growth and development of Ede, Osun State and Nigeria at large. In other words, it is just a way of showing appreciation, not only to His Excellency, the Governor but to the entire Adeleke dynasty of Ede by the Timi of Ede in collaboration with the Timi in Council .

“You can then imagine the import of the installation and its attendant significance, not only to the people of Ede, where the Adelekes hail from but Osun State in general”.

Speaking on why Governor Adeleke will be succeeding his elder brother, Late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, who was until his death, the Asiwaju of Ede, Oyewumi said the installation has no political undertone but purely on merit.

“Adeleke dynasty has done great for Ede and the state at large. The installation is just in recognition of what Adelekes have done for the community. It has nothing to do with politics.”

The programme will also include fundraising of multimillion naira for construction of a modern Palace for Timi of Ede.
