Women Are the Live Wires of National Development — Gov Adeleke

● As Osun NCWS Endorses Gov Adeleke for 2026

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has described women as the “live wire of national development,” highlighting their indispensable role in nation-building, social stability, and economic growth.

The Governor made this assertion while receiving the leadership and members of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Osun State Chapter, led by its President, Dr. Rebecca Adeola Ayoola, during a courtesy visit to him at the Exco Lounge of the Governor’s Office complex at the Osun state Government Secretariat.

During the visit, Dr. Ayoola commended Governor Adeleke for his people-oriented governance, gender-friendly policies, and commitment to improving the welfare of women across Osun State. She noted that under the present administration, women have continued to enjoy inclusiveness, empowerment opportunities, and greater representation in leadership.

She further declared the Council’s unwavering support for Governor Adeleke’s administration beyond 2026, assuring that Osun women remain firmly behind his government in appreciation of his developmental strides and compassionate leadership.

“Your Excellency, Osun women are proud of your leadership and the transformation it has brought to our dear State,” Dr. Ayoola said. “We are here today to reaffirm our total support for your administration and to assure you that Osun women stand solidly with you, now and beyond 2026.”

In his response, Governor Adeleke expressed delight at the visit and lauded the NCWS for being one of the most organised and consistent platforms for women’s advocacy in Nigeria.

“Here in Osun, we acknowledge the role you’ve played in supporting government programmes, promoting family values, and giving a voice to women at the grassroots,” Governor Adeleke stated. “Your organisation represents the strength, resilience, and unity of women in Osun. I urge you to keep that spirit alive.”

The Governor assured the Council that their requests on accommodation, mobility, and logistical support would receive due consideration, adding that his administration will continue to prioritise initiatives that empower women, protect children, and strengthen family institutions.

He encouraged the NCWS to sustain its impactful programmes on skill acquisition, gender-based violence awareness, and women’s participation in agriculture, areas he said align with his government’s agenda for inclusive and sustainable development.

“Women are the live wire of national development,” Governor Adeleke affirmed. “My government values your partnership and will continue to engage with you in shaping policies that benefit women and families. Together, we will continue to build a fair, prosperous, and inclusive Osun State by the special grace of Almighty God.”

The visit ended on a note of solidarity, as Dr. Ayoola reiterated the commitment of the NCWS to mobilize women across Osun State in sustaining the gains of good governance under the Adeleke administration.
