Civil servants jubilate as Adeleke commences payment of salary arrears
In fulfilment of his promise to pay the 30 months half salaries arrears owed by the past All Progressives Congress administration, Governor Ademola Adeleke today began the clearing of the debt.
It was gathered that the civil servants across the State started receiving the alert for the first payment shortly after 12noon today as wild jubilations erupted from different parastatals and ministries.
Workers sighted were visibly happy and expressed their profound gratitude that despite numerous promise from the past administration which went unfulfilled, Governor Adeleke in under 3 months in office commenced the payment of the arrears.

Expressing gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke on behalf of the state workforce, the chairman of the trade union Congress in Osun State, Comrade Adekola Adebowale described Governor Adeleke as a mam of his words whose commitment to workers welfare is no more in doubt.
Comrade Adebowale said Osun State workers will never forget the good gesture of the state governor as according to him, many of their members have gone under with many others incapacitated due to lack of adequate welfare on the part of past administration, especially on the modulated salary arrears.
Also speaking to our correspondent, a civil servant from the Ministry of Commerce, Corporative and Empowerment expressed Joy as she declared that the civil servants couldn’t believe that this payment could ever materialize again in their lifetime,
“When the Governor announced the plan to pay the salary arrears, we didn’t believe it, we even thought where is he going to get the money, I was pleasantly surprised to receive the alert this afternoon and that’s exactly why everyone is jumping in excitement” she commented.
Another civil servant from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs declared that most of the civil servants had already forgone the payment and today’s payment indeed came at a great surprise to everyone, “We already thought the money has gone. Even when Governor Adeleke made the promise during the campaign, we didn’t believe him”. He added.
