The Nigeria Police Force, Osun State Command has confirmed the arrest of some suspects after the recent cult clashes in Ilesa which led to the deaths of four persons between Sunday and Tuesday.
The persons were killed at Imo, Sabo/Irojo Junction and Oke Omiru, all within Ilesa metropolis by Aiye and Eiye cult groups battling for supremacy in the town.
Giving an update about the security situation in the town on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer for the State, Yemisi Opalola, said some arrests have made but declined to give the number of those apprehended.
Opalola said operatives were still on the trail of some of the suspected perpetrators of the crime, added that normalcy had returned to the town.
“We are still on the trail of some of the perpetrators. They are fleeing but we are still on the trail. Normalcy has returned to the town.
“We have made some arrest in connection with the incident, but I don’t have the number of those arrested presently.”
The State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, had on Wednesday directed security agencies in the state to end violent attacks in Ilesa which led to the death of about five residents in less than one week.
