Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele has once again proven her box office dominance as her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, smashed multiple records within days of its release.
The movie, which hit cinemas on December 13, 2024, grossed an unprecedented N206 million as of Monday, December 16, 2024.
Everybody Loves Jenifa achieved the highest-grossing one-day performance of all time, earning N87.8 million on its strongest day.
The movie also recorded the highest opening weekend admission count in 2024, with 38,353 cinema-goers flocking to theatres nationwide.
Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, Everybody Loves Jenifa also secured the titles of Nollywood’s biggest opening weekend of all time and the biggest opening weekend in 2024.
The actress took to her Instagram page on Monday to celebrate this milestone in her career.
Captioning graphics of the movie’s achievements, she wrote, “Thank you Lord!!! Thank you Nigeria!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!”
Everybody Loves Jenifa, the latest instalment in the beloved Jenifa series, continues to follow the humorous and relatable journey of Jenifa, played by Funke Akindele.
The movie features notable actors such as Falz, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, and Layi, among others.
This is not the first time the actress has broken box office records. Her 2023 movie, A Tribe Called Judah, remains the highest-grossing cinema movie of all time in Nigeria.
