Osun Gov’t Hosts NBC, Urges Patience, Dialogue Over Land Dispute Between Oyo, Osun

The Osun State Government has called for patience and continued dialogue in resolving the lingering boundary dispute between Osun and Oyo states, reaffirming its commitment to peaceful engagement and inter-state cooperation.

The call came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) led by its Director-General, Surveyor Adamu A. Adaji on Monday at the Governor’s office in Abeere.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, warmly received the NBC team while assuring that border crisis could be resolved amicably through political will and mutual understanding.

His words, “I believe the solution is within; it is political, Nobody knows when the land was created, but now we are fighting over it. At the end of the day, it’s a round table solution.

“The two governors summoned me and my counterpart from Oyo to visit the area and assess the situation, When there’s crisis, the leaders of the area are often blamed. That is why we are taking this seriously”, He explained

Speaking on behalf of the NBC, Surveyor Adaji commended the efforts of the Osun State Government in handling internal boundary matters.

He also stressed the need for enlightenment and sensitization among residents on the importance of land boundaries.

“We are here to appreciate His Excellency for his concern and support, after today’s meeting, we will work jointly to review documents and see how we can resolve the remaining issues.

“Our aim is to advise and appeal to the two state and the inhabitants to kindly coperate with each other

“The two governments are enthusiastic, and we believe this issue can be resolved amicably,” he concluded.
