Osun PDP Primaries: Sunday Bisi Harps on Peaceful Exercise, Warns Aspirants Against Indiscipline, Improper Conduct

As the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic begins the process of electing councilorship candidates for the party, towards the forthcoming local government election, Hon Sunday Bisi, chairman of the party, has enjoined leaders and members to conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner, with a view to setting the right standards for other political parties struggling to engage in similar exercise.

Osun PDP, according to Hon Sunday Bisi, is set to hold the councilorship primaries tomorrow, Saturday, 17th of August 2024, beginning from 10 am across the 332 wards in the state.

Hon Bisi, in a release personally signed by him on Friday, urged aspirants and their supporters to cooperate with the electoral officers and the security operatives who are scheduled to oversee the primaries, warning that, the state working committee of the party will not treat any act of violence during or after the exercise with kid gloves.

Similarly, the chairmanship primaries of the party will hold on Monday, 19th of August 2021 in all the 30 local government headquarters in the state. The chairmanship primaries will conclude the process of electing candidates for the party, thereby putting the ruling party in good stead to go ahead with other preparations for the February 2025 local government election.

“I urge supporters of all prospective candidates of our party to avail themselves with the dictates of the law and guidelines of our party in their conducts in the primaries tomorrow and Monday. There is no room for violence of any form in a family like that of the PDP and especially a constitutional exercise of this nature.

The leadership of the party has put necessary measures in place to ensure a smooth exercise tomorrow, in line with the directive of our leader, His Excellency, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke at the last stakeholders meeting.

“We are confident that this exercise will produce the best candidates and ensure victory for our great party in the coming local government election in the state”

“As a disciplined party operating on the threshold of the rule of law, aspirants found wanting in the guidelines of the party, electoral act and the constitution of the country in conducting party primaries, especially on issues bordering on improper conduct, such aspirants stand disqualified by the law, without whose ox is gored” Hon Sunday Bisi concluded.
