Adeleke’s Government Breathes New Life into Osun College of Education – Provost

…Governing Council says the institution has moved from collapse to revival

The Provost of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Alhaji Dr. Lasisi Jimoh, has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration for breathing new life into the institution after years of neglect and near collapse under the previous All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Wednesday, Dr. Jimoh highlighted key projects completed since January 2024, which include the 1,000-seater auditorium named after the governor, a new office complex for the School of Social Sciences, a brand-new tractor, a Hilux van, and two hybrid Toyota Corolla cars.

He also revealed that construction is ongoing for a dedicated School of Early Childhood building to meet National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) standards ahead of future accreditation.

“For us to remain relevant, we must migrate to the dual-mode program, running both NCE and degree courses. This will come at no cost to the government and will align us with national education reforms.

“The Office of the Provost is open for every student, if you have any grievance, come rant, the door is open” he said.

The Provost, stressed further that the college is also strengthening its entrepreneurship program, with facilities for bakery, water processing, and gari production, aimed at equipping students with self-reliance skills.

“So today we give emphasis on the entrepreneurship program and we can show you our students engaging entrepreneurship program. They produce a lot of things which we will show you before you even leave, so that by the time they even finish without getting a job from the government, they can fix themselves economically and contribute even to the society in terms of economy.”

Speaking on the institution survival? Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Akinleye Sarafadeen, praised Adeleke’s leadership, describing the college’s progress as a “journey from collapse to revival”

Sarafadeen emphasized that the council maintains strict financial accountability and enjoys cordial relations with the host community, religious institutions, and corporate partners.

“During the APC era, the college was destabilized, with key assets like the water factory and cashew farm handed out for peanuts. We have reclaimed them, expanded our cattle from eight to 50, and boosted our IGR internally generated revenue.

“This administration has contributed so much. During the APC time in this college, what they did to this institution was so terrible, horrible they destabilise everywhere, they destroyed almost everything in the college.

“If I want to rate our Governor, Ademola Adeleke I would rate him 110 over 100” he added
