Governor Ademola Adeleke on Friday continued his re-election campaign in Ife South Local Government Area, receiving a warm welcome from residents, traditional rulers and community leaders, who endorsed his bid for a second term in office.

The campaign train visited Garage Olode, Ifetedo and other communities, where the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to rural development and the expansion of infrastructure across Osun State.

At Awolowo Town, Adeleke and his entourage were received by the Olu of Awolowo, Oba Yekinni Olayemi Olasoji Omisore, the Olubosin of Ifetedo, Oba Akinola Oyetade Akinrera, alongside about 90 traditional rulers and 120 Baales, who commended the governor’s performance and declared their support for his re-election.

Special prayers were offered for the governor by Christian, Muslim and traditional worship leaders at the palace of the Olu of Awolowo. The Olubosin of Ifetedo also reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Adeleke and the Ooni of Ife, dismissing rumours suggesting otherwise.

Speaking during the campaign, Adeleke said the achievements of his administration had become the foundation of his re-election campaign.

“Wherever we go in Osun, our good work speaks for us. We have touched every local government through infrastructure projects and other developmental programmes. We will do even more if re-elected,” the governor said.

The governor also commissioned a three-kilometre road in Ifetedo and assured residents that his administration would prioritise rural electrification, particularly the extension of electricity to Garage Olode.

“Once we are re-elected, we will break the jinx of the lack of power supply in this town. Our Ministry of Energy has completed the necessary groundwork. The diversion of Osun local government funds slowed down our response in several sectors,” he said.

Adeleke further alleged that despite what he described as attempts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate his administration, his government had continued to execute major projects across the state.

“Despite the financial and other plots to undermine our government by the Osun APC, we have delivered many landmark projects. We will also recruit more medical personnel to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state,” he added.

While commissioning medical equipment donated to the Ifetedo health facility by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yusuf Ali, the governor promised that a second term would witness increased recruitment into the health and education sectors.

According to him, the record of his administration justifies his request for another mandate from the people of Osun State.

The campaign was attended by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Director-General of the Campaign, Senator Lere Oyewumi, Deputy Director-General, Hon. Kolapo Alimi, Accord State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, Chairman of the Campaign Publicity Committee, Hon. Bamidele Salam, and other party leaders.

Also present were the Accord senatorial candidate for Osun East, Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Tosin Eluwole, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the rally, the Director-General of the Ife South Campaign, Hon. Sunday Bisi, announced that a former APC governorship aspirant, Peter Ogundeji Apata, alongside Wasiu Atowo-Atomo, Elegunmeje and thousands of their supporters, would officially join the Accord on Wednesday.

“Former Osun West Senatorial aspirant Peter Ogundeji Apata, Wasiu Atowo-Atomo, Elegunmeje and thousands of their supporters will be defecting to the Accord on Wednesday. There are no more credible leaders left in the Osun APC,” Bisi said.
