Osun APC Unleashes Deadly Attack On PDP Members Across The State: Five Killed, Over 50 Injured

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strongly condemns the brutal and coordinated attacks carried out by henchmen of the Progressives Congress (APC), led by the notorious Apc thug, Asiri Eniba, and backed by armed security agents. These attacks, which began as early as 7 a.m. today, have resulted in the deaths of five PDP members and left over fifty others injured across various local government areas in Osun State.

These heinous acts were committed under the false presence of enforcing a deliberately misinterpreted recent Appeal Court ruling, which in no way reinstated the sacked APC local government chairmen and their councilors across the 69 constitutionally unrecognized local councils in the state. In a desperate bid to unlawfully seize control of local governments, the APC resorted to violence, causing widespread mayhem, shooting sporadically at innocent residents in various communities with reckless abandon.

In a statement released by the media office of the party and signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the PDP stated that the worst-hit areas as the time of compiling this report are Boripe, Olaoluwa, Isokan, and Ilesa West Local Government Areas, where heavily armed APC thugs, led by known political figures, unleashed terror on innocent PDP supporters.

“In Boripe Local Government, particularly in Iragbiji, the home town of the defeated former governor Gboyega Oyetola, and Agba, two PDP members Damilare Olumide known as Ege and Oyebamiji Taiwo were gruesomely murdered.

Over twenty PDP members sustained serious injuries while gathering in preparation for the grand finale of our local government election rally, which was to be graced by Governor Ademola Adeleke in the town. These attacks were clearly orchestrated to instill fear and suppress the democratic rights of the people of Boripe, the home local government of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola,” he stated.

“Eyewitness reports confirmed that APC thugs moved in coordinated groups, targeting PDP strongholds, disrupting activities, and attacking innocent party members. These attacks involved the reckless use of firearms, with thugs shooting indiscriminately at peaceful PDP supporters. The scenes of horror in Boripe Local Government left families devastated, struggling to comprehend why their loved ones were subjected to such brutality simply for supporting the PDP.”

“We strongly condemn the actions of the APC and its violent enforcers in Boripe. Their resort to bloodshed is a testament to their desperation and rejection by the people. We call on security agencies to investigate these crimes and ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.”

“In Olaoluwa Local Government, another two PDP members, Abdulahi Olawale Ayanfe and Olaleye Akano were gunned down in cold blood, while several others barely escaped with gunshot wounds. Similarly, in Isokan, APC thugs attacked our members, wounding PDP leader in the community Prince Wahab, while others narrowly escaped death by the whiskers from these violent Apc operatives.”

“The violence escalated in Ilesa West, where APC thugs, led by former Osun State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Oluremi Omowaye, and the APC chairmanship candidate, Mr. Tobi Famurawa, stormed the venue of a peaceful PDP rally and opened fire indiscriminately at the crowed. This reckless display of violence resulted in severe injuries to PDP chieftains Hon. Tunde แบธjแบน and Hon. Kasali, as well as an innocent young woman selling consumables nearby”

“Even more disturbing is the undeniable involvement of security personnel, who either directly participated in these assaults or turned a blind eye to the terror unleashed by the APC thugs. This raises urgent concerns about the complicity of state security agencies in orchestrating and executing this violent crackdown on our members.”

“As a party committed to peace, democracy, and the rule of law, the PDP calls on the Osun State Government, the Inspector General of Police, and relevant security agencies to immediately investigate these barbaric attacks, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure that peace is restored in the state.”

“We also call on the international community, human rights organizations and all well-meaning Nigerians to take note of these atrocities and hold the APC and its leaders accountable for their relentless assault on democracy and human lives.”

“We will not be intimidated. The PDP remains resolute in its mission to serve the good people of Osun State and will take all necessary legal actions to ensure justice for the victims of this political violence.”

“Osun State belongs to the people, and no amount of intimidation will suppress our collective will. We urge our members to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast in their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and the PDP-led government.”

“We specifically call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and other law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action in apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for these heinous crimes. It is imperative that security agencies uphold their constitutional duty to protect all citizens and prevent any further escalation of violence,” he concluded.
