Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has mocked opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, following the poor performance of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recently concluded by-elections.
In a post on X on Monday morning, Onanuga shared a picture of Atiku, Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai with the caption: “How is the market now?”
Onanuga’s mocking of Atiku, Obi and other leaders of the coalotion is a direct reference to a new coalition of opposition politicians who have adopted the ADC as a unified platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai were among the prominent politicians reported to be part of the opposition coalition’s initial meetings.
The APC’s recent “massive triumph” in the legislative by-elections, as described by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, further highlights the formidable challenge facing this new coalition.
The APC claimed its victories were a solid endorsement of the Tinubu administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and its ongoing efforts to transform the nation’s economy.
The by-election results, particularly the ADC’s performance, appear to have provided the APC with a strong point of mockery and a sign of the uphill battle ahead for the opposition.
