Governor Adeleke Mobilises Agencies for Flood Control

Governor Ademola Adeleke is determined to protect the lives and property of the people of Osun State, hence, he has released funds for the ministry of environment to commence flood control operations across the state

Permanent secretary ministry of environment, Mr Oladele Olawuni made the assertion on IMOLE AYO, an enlightenment programme on OSBC Radio and Television channels, promoting the activities of the present administration in Osun State

The simulcast Yoruba phone in programme is put together by the office of the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed

Mr Olawuni said the exercise had since commenced and debris are being evacuated from rivers, streams and waterways in Osogbo, Ile Ife, Ikire and Apomu among others, while the operation will go round other major towns and villages across the state

He expressed the readiness of the Senator Ademola Adeleke’s administration to reconstruct dilapidated pavement on river banks while some narrow bridges built several years ago will also be expanded with a view to allowing free flow of water whenever it rains

The permanent secretary ministry of environment emphasized that efforts will be intensified on the weekly environmental sanitation exercise holding on Thursday, to enforce cleanliness in all market places in Osun State

Mr Olawuni advised the people to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, building of structures as well as farming on water ways and drainages to prevent flood.
