Osun PDP will do everything within the constitutional framework to submit the names of the chairmanship candidates and their running mates to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission OSSIEC in conformity with requirements of the law, assuring that the rulling party in the state has always been conscious of electoral law.
The state chairman of the party, Hon Sunday Bisi made the assertion while receiving a high powered delegation of OSSIEC observer team at the party secretariat on Monday.
The OSSIEC team led by by Pastor Bunmi Ibiloye, had earlier told the party chairman of the commission’s readiness to be thourough with the law, in line with the outlined timetable for the February 2025 local government elections
The OSSIEC team leader, Pastor Bunmi Ibiloye emphasised that the commission was already collating reports of its monitoring team on the PDP primaries across the 30 local governments, assuring that, Osun local government elections will turn out as a model for state electoral bodies in the county.
He enjoined political parties to be alive to the requirements of the law, as according to him, the commission is not prepared to entertain sacred cows.
Hon Sunday Bisi had earlier visited some of the local government headquarters, where he expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary election. He commended members of the party for living true to the democratic ideals of the PDP
The chairman was personally in Ifelodun, Boripe, Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Atakumosa West, with other party monitoring teams sent across other local governments.
Other members of the OSSIEC monitoring team include Engr Rauf Olalere, Barrister Adeniyi Owolabi Abioye, Mrs Mobolaji Niniola and Mr Folaranmi Timothy.
Results of the chairmanship primaries which have started coming in as at press time, are expected to conclude the PDP candidates selection processes, which began last week.
