The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commiserated with his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde, over the tragic loss of lives in a stampede at a funfair event in Ibadan on Wednesday, describing the incident as deeply traumatic.
Governor Adeleke who conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of the Government and the People of Osun to those who lost loved ones in the unfortunate tragedy, said he stand with the Government and the People of Oyo State in overcoming this difficult moment.
The Governor prays for the quick recovery of all those injured and receiving medical attention in different healthcare facilities, noting that the monumental tragedy was a big loss, not only to Oyo people, but for the whole of humanity.
“I’m truly devastated about the collosal loss of lives at a funfair event in Ibadan this Wednesday. The tragic incident was unimaginable, and as a Government, I extend my condolences to my Brother-Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the People of Oyo State, particularly those who lost loved ones in the stampede,” Governor Adeleke was quoted to have said in a condolence message.
“In this difficult moment, I assure Governor Makinde of my solidarity and support in navigating through this unfortunate incident, and I also pray to God Almighty to grant those with injuries quick and safe recovery.”
While praying for the repose of the soul of the departed, Governor Adeleke emphasised the need for solidarity to overcome this challenging situation, and tasked event planners to always prioritise safety.
