President Tinubu Dissolves Boards of All Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions

President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate dissolution of all federal government parastatals, agencies, institutions, and government-owned corporations on Monday night.

Willie Bassey, the Director of Information for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated in a statement that this is in the execution of its constitutional rights and in the public interest.

Boards, commissions, and Councils mentioned in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended are not affected by the dissolution.

In light of this development, and until new boards are formed, the CEOs of parastatals, agencies, institutions, and government-owned companies are directed to refer matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President via the Permanent Secretaries of their respective supervisory ministries and offices.

Permanent Secretaries are also directed to convey such communication to Mr. President through the Office of the Secretary to the Federation’s Government.

As a result, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies must guarantee that the provisions of this order, which went into effect on Friday, June 16, 2023, are followed.

Permanent Secretaries are specifically requested to notify the chief executive officers of the relevant agencies overseen by their respective ministries/offices in order to ensure quick compliance.
