The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on School Monitoring, Hon. Akin Ajetunmobi has charged parents and guardians to rise up to their responsibilities of nurturing their children, and avoid leaving it in the hands of Government alone.
In a statement signed, on behalf of the State Ministry of Education, on Friday, the Special Adviser counseled parents to give their children close monitoring, also advised them to see themselves as indispensable first guardian to their children.
Hon. Akin Ajetunmobi acknowledged that government is already doing its part by ensuring that the school environment is conducive for learning and that teachers are available at all times.
According to the statement, “the roles of parents in ensuring that our pupils are thoroughly equipped for future challenges can not be overemphasized. It will therefore be abdication of responsibility for parents to rely solely on government for this vital role.
“Parents are the foundation of a child coming out good academically and morally,as they spend more time with them than with their teachers.
“It is also very important for parents to provide for the basic things the pupils will need in school for smooth learning to take place. Parents must feed their children well and endeavor to check their school bags before they leave for school and after they return from school. They must help to guide them through their take home assignments”, the Special Adviser concluded.
