The Osun State Government has approved the release of a supplementary list for the first batch of its 2026 teachers’ recruitment exercise, increasing the total number of successful applicants to 1,241.
According to a statement issued on Sunday signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, M.A.K. Jimoh, the approval was granted by Governor Ademola Adeleke as part of efforts to accommodate more qualified unemployed youths into the teaching workforce.
The new figure exceeds the initial 1,000 positions earlier announced. A breakdown of the updated intake shows that 660 candidates were recruited under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 526 under the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and 55 as Education Officers.
The government, however advised successful candidates to check the published lists and proceed with profiling and documentation at the appropriate agencies, including SUBEB, TESCOM, and the Civil Service Commission.
It further urged the newly recruited teachers to demonstrate professionalism and contribute meaningfully to improving learning outcomes in public primary and secondary schools across the state.
