Osun is not going back to the past, says Governor Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared that Osun state will not go back to what he described as “dark past”, as he resumed official duties after a short vacation.

This is also as residents of Osogbo, Osun State on Thursday trooped out in thousands to welcome Governor Ademola Adeleke back to the state after a brief vacation abroad.

The grand reception held at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Osogbo, turned into a carnival of songs, praises and solidarity for the governor.

Addressing party leaders, supporters and residents, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the people for their unwavering support while assuring them of his administration’s commitment.

He however, urged citizens to mobilise at the grassroots level and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

His words “I salute my leaders and I hail the good people of Osun State at home and abroad. I am back to continue the good work after a short vacation.

“Great people of Osun State, should we go back to the past again? We must sustain good governance, we must sustain the good work. God is with us and we shall overcome.

“Talk to your neighbours, family and friends. Osun shall never go back to the past, Imole has arrived, we shall always overcome darkness.”

Also speaking at the rally, Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Hon. Lere Oyewumi commended party members and stakeholders for their consistency.

He also praised Adeleke’s leadership, stating that “Our goodness is in PDP and we shall reap all the benefits. Everyone knows us for good, and our governor is performing well”.

In his address, The state PDP chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, urged residents to register and collect their PVCs ahead of the next elections.

In his goodwill message, Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, lamented alleged attempts to disrupt the state’s growth.

According to him, “No one has the constitutional right to seize allocation.”

” Our governor is trying, let us also try our best. Don’t be scared or distracted. Stay with the governor and let’s support him to continue the good work. As for me I am behind Governor Ademola Adeleke” he added
