In line with Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke’s directive to enhance educational opportunities in Osun State, significant progress was made today towards the upgrade of the Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Cooperative College, formerly known as Osun State Cooperative College, Ode-Omu. An inspection team from the Osun State University (Uniosun), led by Dr. Oginni, visited the Honourable Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe (fcssm), to discuss the future of this vital educational institution.
During the visit, the team conducted an on-site assessment of the college, marking the beginning of the process to elevate the institution to a degree-awarding college with programs in Business Management and Cooperative-related courses. This upgrade is set to provide students in Osun State with enhanced educational pathways and opportunities for professional development.
The Honourable member representing Ayedaade State Constituency, Hon. Folorunsho Yemi Ogundare and Special Adviser to the Governor on protocol, Hon. Olaniyi who were both native of Ode-Omu, expressed their appreciations to Governor Adeleke for fulfilling his promise to rehabilitate and upgrade the college. He started the community’s readiness to support the institution, assuring that Ode-Omu would provide a warm and welcoming environment for prospective students.
Dr. Oginni, leading the inspection team, expressed his admiration for the college’s infrastructural status. He noted that the Vice-Chancellor of Uniosun, in collaboration with Governor Adeleke, is committed to establishing a university campus in Ode-Omu, which will be realized shortly. He affirmed that all necessary documentation to support the transition to a new university college will be processed promptly.
Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe commended the inspection team for their visit and assessment, reiterating Governor Adeleke’s commitment to ensuring the college undergoes a full upgrade before the third quarter of this year. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of this development for the educational growth and empowerment of the youth in Osun State.
This initiative follows the successful commissioning of the rehabilitated college on December 11, 2024, by Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, which saw the institution renamed to Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Cooperative College, Ode-Omu, Osun State.
