FG Re-awards Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha Road to New Contractor

The Federal Government has re-awarded the construction of the Ibadan -Ife- Ilesha Expressroad to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited, following the termination of the previous contract with Kopek Construction Company.

This development was disclosed by Hon. Akin Alabi, representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, who confirmed that the new contractor is a reputable multinational firm with extensive experience in major infrastructure projects across Nigeria and Africa.

Hon. Alabi explained that the expressway is considered a single unified project by the Federal Government, though the section from Iwo Road to Asejire has been of particular concern to residents within his constituency due to its poor state.

According to him, the new contractor will adopt concrete pavement technology, a modern and durable construction method expected to last up to 50 years without requiring major rehabilitation.

“The project has now been re-awarded to CBC Global Civil & Building Construction Nigeria Limited, a reputable multinational construction company with an extensive track record of major infrastructure projects in Nigeria and across Africa.

“The new contractor will employ concrete pavement technology, a modern and durable method that ensures the road will not require major rehabilitation for approximately 50 years.

“Work is expected to commence from the Osun State end of the expressway. However, I am in active discussions with the contractor to carry out palliative works on the most deteriorated and dangerous sections within our constituency to bring immediate relief to road users. This I promise will commence as soon as possible.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritizing this critical infrastructure project and ensuring renewed commitment to its timely completion”, he noted.
