The family of Late Evangelist Morris Fadehan, who was the senior pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Grace of Comfort Parish, Ile-Ife in Osun State, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to help intensify efforts in investigating and prosecuting those involved in the murder of their breadwinner.
Recall that SAHEL STANDARD had earlier reported that Lekan Ogundipe, who is Fadehan’s assistant on Monday, February 26, 2024, following several disagreements between him and the senior pastor laid ambush within the church premises and unleashed terror on the deceased while he bowed and prayed on the altar.
Ogundipe stabbed the deceased in the head several times, hit a nail through his ear and nose before dragging the lifeless body out of the altar, wrapped it with clothes and set it on fire.
Addressing journalists during a press conference held in Osogbo on Tuesday, the eldest daughter of the deceased, Mrs Elizabeth Fadehan appreciated the police for apprehending Ogundipe who confessed to the murder, adding that the family still do believe that more is needed to be done to unravel other culprits involved in the act.
Speaking further, Mrs Fadehan said they have been receiving strange calls from some people since the inception of the case, threatening that they should drop the case.
She, however, stated that evil people shouldn’t be allowed to flex muscle in the society because of those standing as their godfathers, noting that the repercussions could be dangerous for all.
“We wish to let the general public know that since the inception of the case, some of us have been receiving several strange calls to drop the case.
“Threats from different angles are countless, saying that we want to fight the powerful and influential people in the society.
“That is why we are calling on the Inspector General of Police to wade into this matter and help the helpless. Community and reputable Non-Governmental Organisations in Nigeria should, please, speak out for us because this case must be thoroughly investigated and no sinner must go unpunished.
“There have been several misunderstanding between the deceased and Lekan, anytime this happened, he (Lekan) has many supporters in church that he always use against the deceased.
“Lekan couldn’t have carried out the dastard act alone on that day without an assistant from his co-haters of the deceased in the church.
“Life has been so miserable for the wife and children of our beloved Fadehan since his untimely death. Nobody to cater for them as father. He was a perfect example of family man while alive and his contributions to the extended family can never be overlooked”, she concluded.
