The 2024 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne was full of drama but Ferrari was able to come out victorious with Carlos Sainz taking the Chequered Flag, and teammate Charles Leclerc also making it to the Podium for a Ferrari one- two.
Carlos Sainz took the first non- Red Bull win of the season with an impressive display taking advantage of technical trouble for Max Verstappen in the opening laps that forced the reigning world champion to retire due to brake failure.
It was Carlos Sainz third career win, the first time when not on Pole, and just two weeks after an appendix surgery.
It was also a difficult race for both Mercedes Drivers as they did not finish. Seven time world champion Louis Hamilton had engine failure and team mate Sergio Perez crashed out after hitting a wall in the last lap.
Lando Norris of McLaren recorded a breakthrough maiden podium of the season for himself and McLaren, coming third.
The Australian Grand Prix is the 3rd race in the 2024 Formula 1 season with 21 races remaining.
