Outrage Over Ezekiel’s Death as TICC Calls for Arrest and Investigation of Alleged Shooter
By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has called on the AMBO Campaign Organisation to hand over Saheed Kareem, popularly known as “Tanfeani,” to security agencies for investigation over the killing of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said any attempt to shield the suspect from investigation would undermine the quest for justice and accountability.
TICC alleged that a 90-second video currently circulating on social media shows Kareem at the scene of the incident and allegedly firing shots in the direction where the teenager was killed.
“Contrary to what we consider the distortions and attempts by the AMBO Campaign Organisation to create an alibi for Saheed Tanfeani, a 90-second video currently in wide circulation appears to show him at the scene and allegedly shooting in the direction where young Ezekiel was killed,” the statement read.
The council further alleged that the vehicle used to convey Kareem and members of his group to the scene was branded with AMBO campaign posters and bore the inscription “Ajisope.”
According to TICC, similar vehicles were allegedly linked to separate shooting incidents that occurred in Owode-Ede and Osogbo on June 9, 2026.
“It is difficult to ignore the recurring appearance of vehicles associated with Ajisope in incidents involving violence and shootings across Osun State,” the council stated.
The group called on the Police and other security agencies to invite Ajisope, identified as Alhaji Kabiru Adekunle, for questioning regarding any possible connection to individuals allegedly involved in violent activities across the state.
“It is therefore imperative that the Police and other security agencies invite Ajisope, whose real name is Alhaji Kabiru Adekunle, to explain any connection he may have with individuals alleged to be responsible for several violent incidents in Osun State, including the tragic killing of 14-year-old Ezekiel,” the statement added.
TICC also alleged that several individuals suspected of involvement in political violence are frequent visitors to Ajisope’s office in the Tinumola area and his Kaptok Hotel located at Adetunji Estate. It urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that all those found culpable are brought to justice.
The council reiterated its opposition to political violence, stressing that no political ambition should be pursued at the expense of human lives.
“We strongly reject the use of violence for political purposes and remain committed to a peaceful electoral process. No political ambition should be worth the life of any citizen,” Olajengbesi said.
The council further called on law enforcement agencies to take decisive action against anyone found responsible for the killing and related acts of violence.
It also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased teenager and wished another victim of the incident, Mathew Johnson, a speedy recovery.
“We once again express our deepest sympathy to the Olapade family over the tragic loss of Ezekiel. We also wish Mathew Johnson, another victim of the shooting incident who is currently receiving treatment, a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
TICC urged residents of Osun State not to allow acts of violence to discourage them from participating in the August 15 governorship election.
“The objective of those who engage in violence is to create fear and intimidate citizens into staying away from the polls. Osun people are known for their courage and resilience, and we must not surrender to those who believe violence can determine political outcomes,” the statement concluded.
