Osun State Government, on Thursday, launched the enforcement of jackets and Identification Cards for all commercial motorcycle riders in the state.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele, who carried out the enforcement at Igbona market on behalf of the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, later took the campaign to other places like Owode Igbona, Abaku, Elelede junctions, Oluode market, Olaiya junction and Old Garage area, all in Osogbo.
Speaking with the commercial motorcyclists at Igbona market, Hon. Oyedele stressed that government is enforcing the jackets and I.D cards for their own safety and benefit.
He said; “It is this jackets and identity cards that will enable government to have your records which will in turn help security agents to perform their functions in curbing crimes in the state.”
The Commissioner, however, noted a warning that it is now a crime to operate without the jacket and Identity card.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Osun State Transportation Management System, OSTMS, Comrade Ayobami Oyeniyi AKA Ado Igbona, appreciated the State government for the enforcement, saying it is a step that will make his job easier as the head of the commercial motorcyclists.
