Osun NSCDC found wandering toddler, seeks information about parents

Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has sought information from members of the public about the parents or relatives of a toddler found wandering in the Owode-Ede area of the state.

A statement by the spokesperson for the command, Kehinde Adeleke, obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, said the boy, whose age was put at below two years, was found wandering by a man returning from church in the early hours of Saturday.

After he was found roaming in the area, Adeleke said the boy was taken to the palace of Olu of Owode-Ede, where residents looking for missing children were asked to come forward to claim him.

She added that since no one came forward to claim the boy at the palace, the command took him into custody.

She, however, called on the residents looking for a missing child to approach the state headquarters of the command with proof.

The statement partly read, “A boy whose age cannot be ascertained but close to 2 years was found in Owode-Ede Area on Saturday 24/2/2024 by a man coming from a night vigil around 5:10am and was taken to a central mosque in the area for announcement.

“He was also taken to Owode Ede’s palace for whoever was looking for a missing child to identify and claim him, but nobody has shown up yet.

“The boy is now in the custody of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, Ido Osun, Osun State.

“Anyone whose child is missing should come to NSCDC, Ido Osun, with valid evidence.”
