Osun APC Attack On Journalist: AMBO Campaign Council is a Colossal Embarrassment

Osun people deserve leaders who are emotionally and mentally disciplined, and who demonstrate restraint, clarity, and respect under pressure. – Olajengbesi

The disgraceful outburst by the Osun APC Spokesperson, Remi Omowaiye, on live television is yet another disturbing reflection of the arrogance, intolerance, and emptiness that now define the so-called All Progressives Congress Campaign Council in Osun State.

His shameful attack on journalist Tope Ajijola, including the insulting question, “Did you go to school at all?”, was not only crude and uncivilized, but a direct assault on decency, free speech, and the basic standards of public engagement.

What triggered this embarrassing display were simple and legitimate questions on governance, education, primary healthcare, and the responsibilities of local government chairmen. Questions any serious political organization should be eager to answer. But rather than provide substance, the spokesman responded with hostility, tantrums, and visible frustration.

It was the conduct of a man overwhelmed by facts and defeated by reason. The Director-General of the council, Wole Oke, has also reportedly been seen issuing reckless threats to citizens of Osun State, declaring that anyone not aligned with him would have themselves to blame.

Such language is irresponsible and deeply undemocratic. For men entrusted with selling a political message, both Wole Oke and Remi Omowaiye have instead become symbols of disorder, intolerance, and political bankruptcy.

Their repeated public conduct suggests a campaign council in confusion, lacking discipline, emotional control, and any coherent message for the people of Osun. Even their members cannot guarantee their temperament for leading an issue-based campaign again.

Nearly 20 days after its inauguration, the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council has failed to unveil any meaningful agenda, policy roadmap, or vision for Osun State. No ideas. No programmes. No solutions. Only insults, threats, media drama, and daily exhibitions of incompetence.

In light of these repeated public outbursts and disturbing statements, there is every reason to question their level of mental and emotional discipline, composure, and readiness for the serious responsibilities of public leadership. We call on them to publicly demonstrate the restraint, clarity, and accountability required to engage in a serious, issue-based campaign.

Osun deserves better. It deserves leadership that is calm, focused, respectful, and solution-driven. What we have seen so far from the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council is chaos wrapped in arrogance. It is now beyond doubt that the council has become a colossal embarrassment and a tragic comedy of failed politics.
