The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has underlined the importance of religious harmony among the faithful during the holy months of Ramadan and Lent.

The Speaker during a visit he embarked on to Odo Otin Local Government Area on Thursday, engaged with religious leaders and sought to address their concerns regarding the development of the constituency.

According to a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, Egbedun during the visit which was aimed to foster unity among the diverse religious groups and promote collaboration for the betterment of the community, implored residents to embrace religious tolerance and understanding, saying: “Let us cherish the spirit of togetherness during these sacred times, and may our collective efforts bring prosperity and peace to Osun State.”

“During Ramadan and Lent, we must focus on what unites us, rather than what divides us. We must remember that we are all one people, regardless of our faith. Let us use this time to pray for peace, harmony, and understanding. Let us show love and compassion to one another.

“Let us celebrate our differences and recognize what we have in common. Let us be a shining example of what is possible when people of different faiths come together in peace” Rt. Hon. Egbedun admonished.

His first stop was at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Odo Otin branch, where he met with members to discuss their concerns and aspirations for local development.

The speaker assured the attendees that their voices were heard and that they would work towards addressing their concerns.

Continuing the visit, Egbedun met with the Chief Imam of Okuku, Alhaji Imran Abubakir Muhammed in his residence, engaging in a fruitful discussion about the future of the community.

Afterwards, he attended the Tafsir at Oyan Central Mosque, where Alfa Sulaimon delivered an enlightening sermon, promoting a sense of communal solidarity.

Through these interactions, the speaker gained valuable insights into the community’s needs, emphasizing the importance of engaging with constituents.

He noted that while it may not be possible to address every issue immediately, collaboration and divine guidance will enable him to make significant progress for the people’s benefit.

The statement added that Rt. Hon. Egbedun during the visits, distributed food items and other gifts to the religious leaders, to promote a spirit of generosity and unity during the holy months of Ramadan and Lent, aimed to alleviate any hardships and foster a mutual support.
