Today, the Osun State Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, led by Hon. (Princess) Ayobola Fadeyi Awolowo , successfully organised this year’s Children’s Day event, which was marked by a funfair and physical exercise for participants.
The event, which took place at the Osogbo City Stadium, was attended by students, teachers, government officials and prominent members of the public. His Excellency, Gov Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Igbalaye Teslim, expressed his delight at seeing the Osun school children happy and in good spirits.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke assured the children that the Osun State government is committed to ensuring their welfare, well-being and educational growth. He was joined by other dignitaries including the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Hon Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, Special Adviser to the governor on Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Hon. Moji Omisore, Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Barrister Abimbola Babatunde, Hon. Temilade Olokungboye, Special Adviser to the governor on local government affairs, Hon. Goddey Olije, Iyaloja General and her entourage, Chief (Mrs) Mary Aderonke Oyebode, Special Assistant to the governor on Social Affairs and music star, Hon. Soji Fagbohun, Winner of Miss Osun Beauty Pageant, Peace Adewale, local government council chairmen, security agents and other prominent individuals.
Over 50 schools participated in the March Past, including schools for children with disabilities. The event also featured a cultural display by the Osun Cultural Troupes and the presentation of trophies to schools that excelled in their March past. The event ended with the national and state anthems, leaving everyone in attendance with joy and laughter.
The Osun State government under the leadership of His Excellency, Asiwaju Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, remains committed to prioritising the welfare and development of its children and this event is a proof to that commitment.
