Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) for recognising his administration’s efforts in improving healthcare delivery and the welfare of medical personnel in Osun State, assuring that his government will do even more if given a second term in office.

The assurance was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, following NARD’s commendation of the state government for implementing the Professional Adjustment Tax (PAT), Specialist Allowance (SA), 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), Annual Leave Bonus and Accoutrement Allowance.

The association described the initiatives as “laudable interventions” that reflect “visionary leadership and a genuine investment in the healthcare workforce.”

Adeleke said his administration places high value on resident doctors and other healthcare workers because of the critical role they play in ensuring effective healthcare delivery across the state.

According to him, the government’s commitment to the welfare of health workers has informed several policies and approvals aimed at improving their working conditions and boosting service delivery.

The governor noted that the investments have continued to yield positive results, pointing out that Osun emerged as the best-performing state in the South-West in the Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge for both 2024 and 2025.

He also cited the state’s recent ranking as fifth in Nigeria for efficiency in public hospital services, attributing the achievement to the dedication, commitment and professionalism of healthcare workers across the state.

“I cherish this acknowledgement of our commitment to the health sector from the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors. This will encourage us to do more, especially for the secondary and tertiary health sectors,” the governor said.

Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector, promising to introduce more initiatives that will enhance healthcare delivery and improve the welfare of medical personnel if re-elected.
