The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has emphasised on the importance of culture and tourism with a declaration that the economy of the state would receive buoyancy if effectively channelled through them.
The Governor made this disclosure on Monday during a visit to Nike Arts Gallery, Ikate, Lagos State.
Adeleke commended Mrs Nike Okundaye for her giant strides in the promotion and development of Culture not only in Yoruba land but the world at large.
“As a governor, I have always work in tune with the reality of fast tracking the development of Osun state in all sectors and this is the reason why I facilitated the renovation of Osun Osogbo grove before the 2023 festival celebration”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Nike Art Gallery, Mrs Nike Okundaye appreciated the visit of the governor and his entourage.
In company of her husband,Mr Reuben Okundaye,a retired Police officer, she commended governor Adeleke for the needed facelift given to Osun-Osogbo grove this year penultimate to the festival.
She noted that an average of over five million people from different parts of the world took part in this year Osun-Osogbo cultural festival.
While speaking, the Vice-chairman, Osun state Council for Arts and Culture, Mr Seyi Orolugbagbe stated that the locally made fabrics, known as “Adire Osun” can improve the economy of Osun State if well tapped and promoted.
He therefore sought for a working collaboration between Nike Arts Gallery and Osun State Council for Arts and Culture especially in the area of cultural promotion.
Governor Adeleke went in company of the State Peoples’ Democratic party Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, Special Adviser to the Governor on General Services, Sir Adekunle Adepoju, and his counterpart in Sustainable Development Goals, Mr Bankole Omisore among others.
