Osun State Police Command has assured the residents of the state and media organisations located in the state that adequate security measures have been put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
This assurance is contained in a statement by the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Kehinde Longe and signed by the command’s Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on Sunday.
Also, the assurance is coming on the heels of the recent attack on a radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Command noted that it was aware of what was happening in Oyo State concerning the Yoruba Nation agitators and warned all disgruntled elements that may have the mind of truncating democratic process of transition of power to jettison the idea forthwith.
He added that security agencies will use all legal means to uphold the democratic process in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
Early on Sunday morning in Ibadan,Yoruba Nation agitators stormed Radio Nigeria, Amuludun 99.1FM, located at Moniya, Ibadan.
The station’s General Manager, Stephen Agbaje confirmed the attack and disclosed that the attackers occupied it for some period of time.
Luck however ran on them as they were rounded up and five agitators were arrested by the operatives of the Oyo State Police Command.
“The Osun State Police Command is using this medium to assure the general public, especially the Media houses of adequate security measures put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the state as the Police Command is aware of what is happening in our neighbouring state concerning the Yoruba Nation Agitators who attempted to hijack one radio station in the early hours of today 28th May, 2023.
“At the same time, Police Command is using the same medium to warn all disgruntled elements that may have the mind of truncating Democratic process of transition of power to jettison the idea forthwith as security agencies will use all legal means to uphold the democratic process in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, enjoins the general public to continue with their lawful businesses and be law abiding citizens.”
