ZLP Threatens Mass Action Over FG’s Payment of Osun LG Funds to Sacked Chairmen

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Osun State Chapter, has condemned what it described as the “reckless and unconstitutional” decision of the Federal Government to pay local government funds into a United Bank for Africa (UBA) account allegedly opened for the benefit of sacked council chairmen and councillors in the state.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi, the party faulted the move, insisting that the beneficiaries emerged from the “fraudulent Yes/No election” of October 15, 2022, which it maintained had been nullified.

According to ZLP, the action contravenes Section 7(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees that local governments must be run by democratically elected councils. The party further alleged that the payment also violates Section
