The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Thursday arrested six suspects over the kidnap of a 60-year-old bricklayer and his colleague.
The incident happened around 7:00pm on Wednesday at Dagbolu area, along Ikirun road, Osogbo.
The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke made this known via a statement made available to Journalists in Osogbo on behalf of the Command boss in the state, Commandant Sunday Agboola.
The Statement reads, “Today thursday, 30th March, 2023 at about 07:30hrs a case of kidnapping was reported to our office by one Mr Adeyemi A. and some community members of Omoluabi community, Dagbolu. They came along with one Mr Taiwo M a 60-year-old man who was just being released from the hand of the kidnappers.
“According to Mr Taiwo M, a bricklayer residing at Ibokun but came to work at Segun Taiwo’s building behind Samiya said at about 1900hrs yesterday four Fulani men suddenly came and kidnapped him alongside one of the two boys with him. They took them to the deep forest and brutalized them, collected their phones and cash that was with them and asked them to pay a ransome of #10,000,000. At midnight the two victims were able to escape but Mr Taiwo M.did not know the whereabout of his boy.
“The NSCDC Officers took Mr Taiwo M to Community health Center Dagbolu for necessary treatment and called the attention of the Anti-kidnapping unit of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command.”
Adeleke noted that NSCDC worked together with Police operatives to ensure that all necessary areas were combed.
“While the search was on going the only one person in the captive of kidnappers regained his freedom.
“Meanwhile when NSCDC alone was combiing the forest, six(6) suspects were apprehended in the forest with firearms. They are at our custody for further investigation,” she concluded.
