On Tuesday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Representative Bamidele Salam,held a strategic engagement with a delegation from the United States Embassy in Nigeria.
The U.S. team was led by Economic Officer Benjamin Grunnet, alongside Political Officer Cassandra Carraway and Deputy Economic Counsellor Joseph Giblin.
The meeting focused on the pivotal role of the Nigerian House of Representatives in promoting transparency and accountability in public finance management.
Representative Salam emphasized the committee’s commitment to upholding fiscal responsibility as a means of boosting investor confidence and attracting increased foreign investment into Nigeria.
The U.S. delegation commended the Public Accounts Committee for its innovative approaches and reform-driven efforts to strengthen the audit process.
They also acknowledged the committee’s ongoing initiatives to build the capacity of both its members and staff.
