The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has observed with utmost amusement and pity the pitiable drama of confusion being staged by the rejected All Progressives Congress (APC) and its hired agents in the state.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Osun PDP Director of Media And Publicity, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji on Monday, which was made available to newsmen.
The statement reads further; “We find it laughable that a group of court-sacked errand boys and girls parading themselves as local government chairmen would jubilate over a phantom victory of illegally ambushing public funds through private accounts in a commercial bank, even while their own lawyers in open court denied knowledge of any such payments.
“These counsels, representing the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria, boldly disowned the supposed transfer of local government funds into private accounts domiciled in the United Bank for Africa (UBA).
“What better picture of confusion and desperation can be painted than this? The APC and its cohorts are clearly exposed in their naked desperation to loot and run away with public funds belonging to the people of Osun State.
“It is also shameful, though not surprising, that revered national institutions such as the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria would find it hard to admit the truth that, billions of naira meant for Osun local governments were dubiously diverted into private accounts. Such barefaced illegality is indefensible, even for the oldest and most cunning of lawyers before any judge.
“We therefore invite the good people of Osun to carefully note the consistent antics of the APC, which since being rejected at the polls has worked tirelessly to destroy the same state it once ruled, ruined, and scheming to rule it again. Their bitterness over losing power has pushed them into criminal conspiracies that make them unworthy of public trust.
“The PDP sympathises with everyone bearing the brunt of this wickedness which includes our revered traditional rulers, local government workers, primary health personnel, and indeed the grassroots citizens whose welfare has been largely jeopardised by these federal might crusaders.
“In all of this, we salute the resilience and humane leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who continues to stand in the gap for the oppressed, sustaining his people-oriented governance with landmark projects across infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare.
“We assure the people of Osun State that this PDP government will never abandon them to the hands of conspirators and treasury looters. Governor Adeleke remains committed to deploying the people’s mandate to defend their welfare and to take Osun into a prosperous future.
“Finally, we thank all individuals, groups, and institutions that have stood firmly with the Governor and our democracy in this face-off with the lazy but lousy APC elements, whose only stock-in-trade remains demonic shortcuts to power and primitive plunder of public resources,” the statement concluded.
