A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the remand of a suspect, Saheed Kareem, popularly known as “Tanfeani,” in police custody for 14 days over his alleged involvement in the murder of a 14-year-old boy, Master Olapade Ezekiel.
The order was issued on June 29, 2026, by Chief Magistrate Dr. O.A. Ayilara following an ex parte application filed by the Osun State Ministry of Justice.

Court documents revealed that the state had approached the court seeking an order to remand the suspect pending the issuance of legal advice by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the eventual filing of formal charges.

The application stated that Kareem is under investigation for alleged conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and the murder of the teenager, who was reportedly killed in Ilobu, Osun State, on June 21, 2026.

The prosecution had further urged the court to remand the suspect in a correctional facility in either Ilesa or Ile-Ife for 14 days to allow the conclusion of investigations.

However, after reviewing the motion, supporting affidavit, and written address, Chief Magistrate Ayilara granted the application in part, ordering that the suspect be kept in police custody rather than a correctional centre.

The court held that, given the gravity of the allegations, the continued detention of the suspect was necessary to ensure a thorough investigation and to allow the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to provide legal advice.

“It is therefore ordered that the respondent, Saheed Kareem (a.k.a. Tanfeani), shall be remanded in police custody within the Osun State Command for the purpose of investigation and pending the legal advice of the Director of Public Prosecution,” the magistrate ruled.

The court further directed the Commissioner of Police to forward the case file to the DPP immediately upon completion of investigations for legal advice.
The remand order remains valid for 14 days.
