The Ede Muslim Council has endorsed the re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, saying his administration has recorded significant achievements that deserve continuity.
The endorsement was announced at the council’s General Assembly held on Thursday at the Ede Central Mosque.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Engr. Dr. Musibaudeen Idris, on behalf of the council’s executive body, the Muslim body said its decision followed a thorough assessment of Governor Adeleke’s performance in office.
According to the statement, the council considered the administration’s record in infrastructure, education, healthcare, good governance and the promotion of religious harmony before arriving at its decision.
“The General Assembly of All Muslims in Edeland has formally endorsed the re-election of the Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, for a second term in office,” the statement said.
The council added that it was convinced that another four years for the governor would consolidate the developmental strides already recorded across the state.
It therefore urged Muslims in Edeland to mobilise and vote massively for Adeleke in the governorship election.
“We call on all Muslims in Edeland to come out en masse to support Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026,” the statement read.
The council also prayed for the governor’s success at the polls, expressing optimism that his administration would continue to implement programmes that would benefit the people of the state.
It further appealed to political stakeholders and residents of Osun State to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.
“We appeal to all the people of Osun State to embrace peace before, during and after the governorship election,” the council said.
The statement concluded with prayers for continued peace, stability and progress in Osun State and Nigeria.
