The Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has deployed additional operatives to strategic locations in Osogbo following recent cult-related attacks that triggered tension in parts of the state capital.

The Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, announced the deployment while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, assuring residents that the security situation was under control and that every necessary measure had been taken to protect lives and property.

Omoyele described the attacks, which occurred on Tuesday night in the Egbatedo area and in the early hours of Wednesday at Idi-Seke, as “unfortunate, senseless and unacceptable.”

He said, “The Osun Amotekun Corps will not fold its arms while criminal elements threaten the lives of innocent citizens or destroy their hard-earned property. We are fully committed to protecting every law-abiding resident of Osun State, and anyone found culpable of instigating violence or engaging in criminal activities will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.”

The Corps Commander said tactical operatives had been deployed to the affected communities and other vulnerable areas to restore peace, maintain law and order, and prevent any further outbreak of violence.

He added that the Corps was working closely with other security agencies through intelligence sharing and coordinated operations to ensure that those behind the attacks were identified, arrested and prosecuted.

According to him, “Our operatives have been strategically positioned across the affected locations and other flashpoints. We are collaborating with sister security agencies to monitor developments, gather intelligence and ensure that those responsible for these criminal acts are brought to justice.”

Omoyele appealed to residents to remain calm and security-conscious, urging them to support security agencies with credible and timely information that could aid ongoing operations.

He stressed that community participation remained critical to the fight against crime, saying, “We urge members of the public not to panic but to remain vigilant. Residents should continue to provide useful information that will assist security agencies in preventing crime and maintaining peace across the state.”

The Amotekun Commander assured residents that the state’s security architecture remained effective, noting that surveillance, routine patrols and rapid-response operations had been intensified to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

He reaffirmed the Corp’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stating that Amotekun would remain resolute in ensuring that Osun State remained safe for all residents.
