Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Monday endorsed former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti as the next governor of the state.
The endorsement follows the decision of the party stakeholders across the state to field Adeoti to contest against Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in Saturday’s primary election of the All Progressives Congress APC, ahead of the July 16 governorship election.
Aregbesola at the Obòkun/Oriade Federal Constituency stakeholders meeting of the party in Ijebu-Ijesa, also affirmed that the Rasaq Salinsile Led-Excos is the authentic party leadership in the State of Osun.
Aregbesola, who was in Ijebu-Jesa on Monday openly denounced any further relationship with the Governor of the state of Osun, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.
He told the crowd of supporters that it was he who handed Oyetola the ‘IleriOluwa’ campaign slogan.
He said as from today he was transferring the slogan to Adeoti with the grace of God.
Aregbesola who made the announcement at the APC Federal Constituency meeting in Oriade/Obokun on Monday boasted that the Ilerioluwa title adopted by Oyetola during the 2018 governorship campaign belongs to him.
The title according to the former governor of Osun said during his 2014 governorship election, the classical Fuji Musician, in a record referred to him as Ilerioluwa.
While speaking on the crisis rocking the party in the state, Aregbesola said he is no longer with governor Oyetola as he had turned the party into a personal affair and also failed to embark on people-oriented policies.
He said the governor does not know the usefulness of the title, Ilerioluwa and he is taking it back from him for Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.
The Minister however urged the people to come out in their numbers for the Saturday primary election and vote Adeoti, promising that nobody will come from nowhere and impose a candidate on the people this coming poll.
Aregbesola also has advised members of the party to stop referring themselves as faction.
He said those who know the meaning of the APC and the progressive ideologies would know that only those who have rejected Oyetola are the authentic members of the party.
The former governor of the state of Osun said he worked and served the people of Osun wholeheartedly during his 8 years in office based on the vision of the Afeniferes such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo Chief Bola Ige.
He stressed that if Awolowo and Bola Ige were to be alive, they will be in support of his steps.
