Osun Declares Tuesday Work Free Day for PVC Collection

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of public servants in the State to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The directive covers workers in the state civil service, local government councils, tertiary institutions and other public establishments across the state.
The approval was conveyed in a circular signed by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, who said the decision was taken to allow public servants fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs for the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral exercises.
The circular, however, exempted workers on essential duties, including medical personnel and security operatives, urging them to make necessary internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical services while eligible staff members collect their voter cards.
Governor Adeleke called on all eligible voters, including public servants and those in the informal sector, to take advantage of the opportunity to collect their PVCs without delay, stressing the importance of the election to the future of the state.
“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the governor said.
He urged residents not to treat the PVC collection exercise with indifference, noting that active participation in the electoral process remains the foundation of democratic governance and the most effective way for citizens to determine the future of Osun State through the ballot box.
