Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated press conference by myopic sacked local government officials and their media handlers, directed towards a bitter indictment of Senator Lere Oyewumi and Hon. Biola Inaolaji through the claim of instigating violence in Ikire that claimed the life of Remi Abass. They attempt to drag their names through the mud because of inordinate ambition. The news is unfounded and contrived by mischief-makers and enemies of the revered elected members of the Peoples Democratic Party.
There is no iota of truth in the fabricated lies. It is worthy of note, and indeed on record even within security circles, that Senator Lere Oyewumi was not the aggressor or instigator of violence in any part of the local government areas of the Osun West senatorial district. We advise you not to drag the names of Distinguished Senator Lere Oyewumi and Hon. Biola Inaolaji into a matter that is defamatory. Everyone knows that Sen. Lere Oyewumi was at the National Assembly fulfilling his constitutional duties on that day, while Hon. Biola Inaolaji was in Osogbo. We don’t want to engage in issues with anyone regarding this matter, but please excuse our elected representatives.
The true perpetrators of the attack were APC thugs who unleashed terror on innocent PDP members in Ikire, which resulted in the death of Bakare Toheeb (YABA) at his Car Wash business premises at Iyana Egba area, Ikire on their way to illegally and forcefully take over the local government secretariat just because he wore PDP face cap. The attack on PDP members is condemnable and unacceptable. We hereby call on the security agencies in the state to ensure a thorough investigation of the matter that resulted in the death of Bakare Toheeb (YABA) also.
We, however, implore the admirers and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party to remain bold, courageous, determined, unshaken, and committed in the face of provocation and flagrant violation of the constitution by the APC in the state. We implore the general populace to come out en masse to exercise their civic rights on Saturday at the local government poll
Hon Sunday Bisi
Osun State PDP Chairman
