Governor Adeleke presents Staff of office to new Owa of Igbajo

It was another historical event at the ancient town of Igbajo,the headquarters of Boluwaduro East local Government Area of Osun State, during the presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new Owa of Igbajo, Oba (Dr.)Ademola Makinde.

People from near and far trooped out in their thousands to witness the historically colourful day and occasion, described as a new dawn and a new beginning in the ancient town.

Osun State Governor,Senator Ademola Adeleke was physically present at the occasion alongside members of the State Executive Council including other notable personalities from all walks of life.

Addressing the gathering, during the presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new monarch, Governor Adeleke appreciated all sons and daughters of the town for giving peace a chance prior to the emergence of the new monarch,whom he described as the popular choice of the people.

Governor Ademola noted that the event will no doubt further showcased his administration’s resolve to actualize the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Igbajo and Osun State as a whole.

The Governor recalled that, before he came on board on the 27th of November, 2022, majority of the inhabitants of the historic Community of Igbajo had expressed their dissatisfaction with the attempt made by the immediate past administration to force an Oba on them, advancing that the subsisting Chieftaincy Declaration which governs succession to the throne of the Owa of Igbajo and the 2005 Chieftaincy Declaration recognizes two ruling Houses, namely: Owa Iloro and Owa Oke-Ode.

While further noting that, the many wrongs which characterized the former installation processes had been righted by his administration thereby entrenching peace and harmony back to the town,Governor Adeleke charged the new monarch to forget about the past and see himself as the father of all citizens of Igbajo at home and in the diaspora now that the contest is over.

Governor Adeleke similarly harped on the importance of the new traditional ruler to make unity a cardinal objective always just as he enjoined him to seek the growth and development of Igbajo, Boluwaduro East Local Council Development Area, Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.

On the part of the people of the town,the Osun State helmsman charged them to extend a hand of love ,support and cooperation to the new Owa of Igbajo.

In his remarks, the new monarch, Oba (Dr.) Ademola Makinde thanked Governor Adeleke and members of his cabinet for following the due process, which culminated into his choice and subsequent appointment as the new traditional ruler of the ancient town.
Accompanied to the historic occasion by his wife,the new monarch also appreciated all sons and daughters of Igbajo,at home and abroad for standing solidly behind him.

Earlier, in his address of welcome, Chairman, Boluwaduro East local Council Development Area, Hon. Abiodun Fatoki appreciated the Governor for giving Igbajo town, a well loved and acceptable monarch, eulogizing the Governor for his developmental projects throughout the State.

Hon.Fatoki also urged the people of Igbajo to give peace a chance and support the new monarch.

Also present at the event were the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; traditional rulers from far and near, Government officials,among others.
