The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved the establishment of a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) owned by billionaire Elon Musk.
The satellite company plans to enter the Nigerian market in the middle of 2022.
According to Ripples Nigeria, Starlink representatives met with the NCC in May of last year to discuss operational licence requirements.
Lagos, Abuja, and Benin are among the cities mentioned for the ISP availability when it launches.
Musk revealed in a tweet that the company expects over 4200 satellites to be operational within 18 months, accounting for roughly two-thirds of all active satellites on earth.
