Umar Reaffirms To Contest APC Northeast Youth Leader In Borno

The former Nigerian Youth Parliament (NGYP) leader, Comrade Shettima Umar has reaffirmed his intentions to contest the All Progressive Congress (APC) northeast youth leader.

Election of the APC six zonal youth leaders, is slated for the 2022 National Convention of the party.

Declaring his intentions to contest at a news conference Saturday in Maiduguri, he said: “My decision to contest was made after exhaustive consultations with various party stalwarts and stakeholders.”

He disclosed that various youth constituencies across the Northeast, including students’ unions, youths and women organisations were consulted before the party’s National Convention.

He said his interest to contest was from the desire to answer the clarion calls of young people to contribute to his experiences and wisdom to lead the youths from the Northeast states of Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba, Gombe and Yobe.

He also attributed his intention to contest the enormous challenges and tasks of repositioning the ruling APC in the country.

“I’m someone ready and capable to offer my most sincere commitments and experiences towards the uplift of our great party,” he said, stating that town hall meetings were organised across the six states in the region.
