We’re worried by recent killings- Osun Vote Not Fight Campaign

Following the crisis that has erupted in some parts in Osun State in the last 72 hours, Insight Initiative for Social and Community Development, the Osun partners for VoteNotFight campaign, is calling to order all stakeholders in the political circle.

This was confirmed in a press statement issued on Friday, signed by Insight Initiative for Community and Social Development Team Lead, VoteNotFight Campaign, Jare Ismahil Tiamiyu, which reads:

“We’re deeply worried by the development that is turning a formerly peaceful State in to battlefield all in the name of State House of Assembly elections.

“To this end, IICSD is calling on security agencies in the state to put all necessary security measures in place to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who are behind the recent crisis that has claimed at least, a life.

“The Initiative also called on politicians to remember their words during our engagement with them and to act according to the rules. We also urge them to call their supporters to order as only a peaceful electoral process and peaceful atmosphere will enable the electorates to exercise their franchise without fear.

“We’re also calling the residents of the state to act in good conduct, to only exercise their civic rights and not engage in any form of violence.

“Finally, we commend the Osun State Police Command under the present CP Elections, Peter Abayomi Oladipo for the arrests recently made. We urge the command to ensure diligent investigation and prosecution of culprits.
